Costa Coffee's award-winning sampling promotional campaign

Costa Coffee's Big Chill live promotion was overseen by The Circle Agency in 2022, being so soon after the COVID-19 lockdowns, this promotion was a bold step that capitalised on the general public's desire for some normalcy a year from when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the hardest. The activation was available and live to consumers in May and it was a brilliant way to connect with consumers face-to-face and was a step back to the normal and daily life of the general public after a major medical global crisis.

This campaign began with delivering 1,122,354 cans to key workers at hospitals, ambulance depots, NHS call centres, etc... it was then followed by sample door drops on their Ready To Drink (RTD) product lines which reached audience in a personal and direct way. In total, there were 45,360 household deliveries. The success of the sample deliveries then led to 49,950 further households reached. Once lockdown eased, the campaign had brand ambassadors with signs near retail locations, deploying a 'First one On Us' Promotion. In August, the RTD team distributed samples in parks and gardens nationwide to deliver 54,000 cans.
